SpeakFreely is a free internet telephony program (i.e. computer to computer). It does not have video conferencing, but the voice quality is good even over low andwidth connections where it performs better than other commercial programs. You can also use PGP with it to encrypt your call. (Alternative site with more freeware). It has reached the "end of life point!

IrfanView is a graphic viewer and editor; it's free and supports almost all image formats. It is very fast and takes very little memory. It is better than most alternative commercial software.

PGPi is a the international edition of the PGP. It was illegal use PGP outside the US and Canada. A recent bug in PGP was discovered! The most recent version is PGP 7.0. You must remember that high encryption is illegal in the UK and in France; if you want to use it you "have to" provide a copy of your private key to the government! thus jeopardizing any patient or private information you have. You go figure it out..... If you are in the US or in a third world country, you can use PGPi or PGP. There is a free version of a PGP-equivalent which is more safe as far as NSA backdoors(!) called GnuPG with similar privacy standards; GnuPG is less user friendly but seperate GUI's are present as GPGShell. GPG4Win is a new project for EMail-Security using GnuPG for Windows.

Pegasus e-mail client is an excellent program with many advanced features. The latest release is version 4.31. It is not susceptible to the "Zillions" of security bugs in Microsoft Outlook. It has reached the "end of life" point!

Foxit PDF Reader is needed to read many documents on the internet and off-line.

PDFCreator creates PDFs from any Windows program. It is used like a printer a browser or any other Windows application.

FileZilla is a fast and free FTP client for Windows with a lot of features..

7-Zip 7-Zip is a file archiver with the a high compression ratio. The program supports many other compression formats. Compression ratio in the new 7z format is frequently 30-50% better than the ratio in the ZIP format. And it is free...

PKZip is still the most reliable compression agent.

Gimp for windows is a free and very good alternative to Adobe Photoshop. A Linux (and more frequently updated) version is also available.

AbiWord is a free word processing program.
